A gold skin applied to base metal, often

The unit of size used for measuring pearls.
A grain is equivalent to a quarter of a carat, or 0.05 gram. Cultured pearls
are usually measured in millimetres. |

Decoration consisting of tiny balls of
metal for which the Etruscan jewellers were famous. |
| Guard ring |
A ring worn on top of a more valuable ring
to prevent its loss. |
| Gypsy ring |
A wide gold ring with a single diamond
deeply embedded in it. The stone is often made the centre of an engraved star. |
